Billedvej

Our latest addition to the burgeoning neighbourhood of Århusgadekvarteret is a balanced mixture of old and new, businesses and housing. The red building was originally used to create movie magic for Nordisk Film back when the whole area was part of Copenhagen’s legendary international freeport. Today, the magic continues with the latest addition to the Red City – an add-on building that strives to strike the perfect balance between private and public space, with a mix of housing, businesses, common spaces and a community atmosphere.

Billedvej is just a stone's throw away from the water, thereby living up to the overall strategy for the Århusgade neighbourhood – that it should be possible to use and see the water from everywhere in the city district of Nordhavnen, Copenhagens' most active interface with the waterfront.

The project is an add-on building atop of an existing building. It will mix business on the ground floor and first floors with housing and common spaces on the second floor. Throughout, the new building is infused with common spaces, shared facilities and rooftop terraces on different levels.

The project will include 17 one-storey apartments, 3 studio apartments and 6 “townhouse” apartments in 2 storeys ranging from 55sqm to 144sqm. The mix of housing units corresponds with the desired number on the local plan for the area.

As a rule, all the housing units have direct access to a balcony and/or a rooftop terrace – and of course to the attractive urban space that is Nordhavn.

The well-known red plastered facade of the existing building will be renovated and will retain its original character, whereas the add-on building will adopt a bright facade in either glass, light grey or white material.
